I took a lot of photos when I visited Kudanshita Building which is to be taken down next January. So I deceded to play with them, which is to create a virtual photo book compiled with two 16-page folds and a 8-page fold with two 4-page folds for the title page and the last page. The blank pages have been skipped here though. I’ve also focused on the color editing trying to reproduce the texture of paper print.

Most of the time I shoot expressways, I am alone. But sometimes, luckily I was not.
285/2011: Qualia Japan Project on Flickr.
Our company started Qualia Japan Project last week. It’s a web publication (The link is to our Facebook page that is open to public). Dr. Kenichiro Mogi, a brain scientist travels around Japan, and write about what he sees, feels, thinks , and inspires our readers to find things with “qualia” around them and transmit what they think to the world. We have visited Kyoto, Okinawa, and the east side of Tokyo on the project.
This one is the shot I took in Okinawa last month. On the first day, one of our destinations was Nakagusuku Castle. When leaving the castle, we saw an abandoned building. The coordinator let us know that it was used by the American Navy a while ago.
Of course it was a keep-off area, but the coordinator happily guided us in there. Soon Dr. Mogi Kenichiro strode into the deeper area of the building. We lost sight of him, and decided to wait until he came back. And it meant that I, as a photographer, was free for a little while. So I shot some photos of its interiors, which I know it won’t be included in the web magazine because the owner wouldn’t give us permission.
So here I can share this here happily with you. This is my unofficial and personal Qualia Japan Project. On the official project, as I mentioned, we find things with “qualia” of Japan and share them with the world, of course, with permission.

I visited Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture last weekend. Atami was where my parents, grandmother, my younger brother and I visited every year. Full of my childhood memories.
278/2011: The View from Daikanzan on Flickr.
During the weekend trip, I visited Daikanzan which offers a nice view of Mt. Fuji and Ashinoko Lake. I love the view from there. This is an tonemapped image with 5 bracketed shots.
